Aldous Torculas leaves UP, eyes NCAA transfer

MANILA, Philippines — Aldous Torculas bid the University of the Philippines farewell after being part of the Fighting Maroons’ UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball championship run.

The UP Office of Athletics and Sports Development on Thursday said that its homegrown talent  has decided to leave the program and take his act to the NCAA.

“We’re proud of Aldous kung saan man siya susunod na maglalaro and we’re sure that he’ll make UP proud by bringing the UP Fight,” said UP Office of Athletics and Sports Development Director Bo Perasol.

“We wish Aldous the best and for sure, there are no goodbyes to be said right now. We’ll see you soon!”

Torculas averaged 3.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in eight minutes of play off the bench for UP last year. He was the team’s defensive player, defending the likes of La Salle’s MVP Kevin Quiambao and National University Jake Figueroa.

The 6-foot-4 winger was a product of UP Integrated School, being a winner of the UAAP Season 82 boys’ mythical team after averaging 11.6 points, 15.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 2.3 steals.

UP remained stacked for its title retention bid with Harold Alarcon, Francis Lopez, and incoming debutant Rey Remogat, a transferee from the University of the East.
