MANILA, Philippines—After three straight losses in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament, the University of Santo Tomas finally ended its dry spell courtesy of another stellar game from Regina Jurado.
The Golden Tigresses snapped out of their slump after surviving Shaina Nitura and Adamson, 25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 27-25, 15-8, on Wednesday.
Jurado was one of the key reasons for the crucial victory as she didn’t want to see her squad drop further from the standings, especially with the Final Four race heating up.

“My mindset was, we needed to win, because if we lose, it’ll be hard to crack the top four again,” said Jurado.
“My adrenaline and my will to win just came out today.”
Jurado finished with 20 points, a follow up to her performance the last time when she scored 22 in a 15-25, 25-17, 14-26, 25-20, 16-14 loss to La Salle over the weekend.
