MANILA, Philippines—Mikole Reyes made sure everyone had their time to shine in La Salle’s win over Ateneo in the second round of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament.
Reyes helped the Lady Spikers notch a 25-21, 25-17, 25-20 sweep of the Blue Eagles at Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.
“What happened now is we maximized our middles. We didn’t just center on our wings,” said Reyes.

Reyes finished with 19 excellent sets to fuel La Salle’s offensive onslaught over Ateneo for their seventh win of the season.
The Green Spikers’ wings did much of the scoring with Angel Canino and Shevana Laput finishing with 16 and 14 points, respectively, but everyone had their hand in the dominant victory, thanks to Reyes.
Amie Provido finished with nine points while Katrina Del Castillo and Alleiah Malaluan registered eight and seven, respectively.
Coach Ramil De Jesus was certainly pleased with his setter’s outing.
“Actually, we give time for our setters during training because we want them to have confidence,” said De Jesus.

“You can’t just get that confidence in one game and we want them to have the right thinking and status inside the floor so today’s result was good,” added the veteran tactician.
Despite the win, though, Reyes said that there’s still some things to improve on as long as the season continues.
“As long as there are games and we hold our training, I know we can do more because this isn’t over yet.”
Up next for La Salle is University of the East on Saturday at the same venue.
